Javier Alcaraz

(Posadas, 1976)

Publicist and Graphic designer, with post graduate studies on Typographic Design and Art Direction for Periodic Publications. Ha has specialized his work on editorial design, typographic production and automatization of publishing editing on his studio elcerezo. Author of various specialized articles has taught Editorial Design and Typography in schools in Argentina, Mexico and Ecuador on undergraduate and graduate programs. Member of ATypI.

Félix Beltrán

(La Habana, 1938)

Studied at the School of Visual, American Art School, Art Students League, Nueva York and the Círculo de Bellas Artes, Madrid. He was intern at the New School for Social Research, Graphic Art Center-Pratt Institute and Council for International Exchanges of Scholars. Received the Honoris Cause Doctorate from the International University Foundation at Delaware, and the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí and Honorary Doctor in Letters of the International Biographical Center, Cambridge. Distinguished Professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Mexico City. Member of AGI, AIGA, ADC, ATypI, among others. Co founder and former president of the BID, Madrid.

Francisco Calles

(Ciudad de México, 1967).

Graphic Designer by the UNAM, has postgraduate studies on Visual Arts, Design Management and Design Processes. Specialist in Typography teaching-learning since 1991. Former president of the Mexican Graphic Design Association, Encuadre. Director of Tipografilia Estudios and the National Congress of Typography in México. Founder of the Bienal de Tipografía Latinoamericana and member of the Unos Tipos Duros collective

Rogelio Cuevas

(Ciudad de México, 1963).

Graphic Designer with postgraduate studies in Typography and Semiotics. Has received numerous national and international awards and recognitions from the Premio Quorum. Professor at the Anáhuac University Mexico City. His work has been published at Marcas & Trademarks Mex, Diseño Gráfico en México, 100 años. In 2015 founds Taller 1895, a specilized space dedicated to the promotion, study and rescue of type press with movable type.

Chava Carmona

(Ciudad de México, 1975).

Editorial Designer with post graduate studies on Typographic Design. Founder of eltall3r, studio specialized on editorial design. He specializes on textbooks for the most relevant editorials in Mexico, driving the graphic language for kids and teenagers teaching through avant garde infographics and visual resources.

José Luis Coyotl Mixcoatl

(México, 1977).

Graphic Designer by the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP), México. Has participated with different design studios like Hula+Hula and Estudio La Fe Ciega in Mexico City and Prologue Films with Kyle Cooper in Los Angeles, California. He has been teaching at various Design schools in the city of Puebla. He has been working as freelance designer and art director for projects in Mexico and the United States

Gonzalo García Barcha

(Ciudad de México, 1962).

Graphic designer and Illustrator (Parsons School of Design, 1986). Founder of El Equilibrista and Blacamán publishing labels. Has contributed to the rescue of remarkable calligraphers and printers work in Mexico. Has worked on film acknowledgments. Has taught (2007-2015) Type design for screen and is currently invited teacher at Gobelins, l’ école de l’image, Paris, France.

Marina Garone Gravier

(Argentina, 1971).

PHD in Art History. Has post graduate studies at the School of Design, Basel. Researcher at the Bibliographic Research Institute (UNAM) and Coordinator of the Library Interdisciplinary Seminar and the Latin American Graphic Culture Net. Her research work is dedicated on Typography History, Printing, Publishing and Visual Culture in Mexico and Latin America. Author and Co-author, Coordinator and Publisher of more than 15 titles.

Manuel Guerrero Salinas

(México, 1977).

PHD in Architecture, Design and Urbanism. Has led national and international lectures and experimental workshops an TEDx, Palermo, Bienal de LetrasLatinas, La Letra Ilustra, ProDiseño, among others. His work has been published in various titles such as FontFeed de FontShop, I love typography, Typography Served, Fubiz, Unos tipos duros, The Anual Typography 30, 365 Typo 2, Typodarium 2010, 2011 and 2012, Digital Arts y Page Magazine, Tiypo and Communication Arts.

Cristóbal Henestrosa

(Ciudad de México, 1979).

Graphic Designer by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Masters degree on Typographic Design by the Centro de Estudios Gestalt and certified Type Designer by The Cooper Union. Author of Espinosa. Rescate de una tipografía novohispana (México, Designio, 2005) and co-author of Cómo crear tipografías. Del boceto a la pantalla (Madrid, Tipo E, 2012). Has been teaching Typography and Type Design at Facultad de Artes y Diseño, UNAM, since 2011.

Uzyel Karp

(Ciudad de México, 1965).

Studied a Masters degree on Design, Typography and Printing at the Schule für Gestaltung, Basel. Since 1996 founds Taller de comunicación gráfica where collaborates with different cultural institutions as INAH, INBA, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Kew Gardens and The World Bank. Develops and produces independent editorial and experimental and reading promotion projects. He is Director of the Visual Communications and the Typography Post Graduate programs at CENTRO, since 2003.

David Kimura

(Ciudad de México, 1972).

Graphic Designer by the Universidad Iberoamericana and has Post graduate studies on Visual Communication by the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst Basel. Has worked with Gabriela Varela since 2005, specialized on Typography and Book Design for publishing labels in Mexico and Europe. His work has been published and recognized in different countries; has been teaching courses, workshops and lectures on different institutions for 17 years.

Gerardo Kloss Fernández del Castillo

(Ciudad de México, 1965)

Graphic Designer, Publisher. PHD on Image, Art, Culture and Society. His research is dedicated on the relation between Design and Publishing. Coordinator for the Design and Publishing Producion Post graduate Program at the UAM Xochimilco. Author of Entre el diseño y la edición, El papel del editor e Historia, diseño y edición, and the chapter: “Las escuelas de diseño gráfico” in 100 años de diseño gráfico en México. Participates on different associations like Encuadre, Comaprod, Codigram, ATypI, Semiotic Society of America and the European Publishing Studies Association.

Jorge Medrano Castrejón

(Ciudad de México, 1952)

Architect with various post graduate studies: Planning, administration and publishing production (UNAM), Editorial Production (Centro Avanzado de Comunicación), Calligraphy and Type Design (U. Anáhuac norte), Iberoamerican Cultural Cooperation (Universidad de Barcelona), Visual Arts (UNAM, FAD-DEP), Professor-Researcher 1980 to date CyAD, UAM-X). Has collaborated with the Design National Office and the Industrial Design Superior Institute (1989, La Habana, Cuba).

Eric Olivares Lira

(CDMX, 1970).

Graphic Designer (EDINBA), with Post graduate studies on Corporate Identity (UAM/Burton Kramer Design), Illustration (EDINBA) and Digital Arts (Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona). His work has been published, shown and recognized by different museums and institutions. Lecturer and jury for different international design biennials and conferences. Teacher for various Universities from different continents. Member of the Spanish collective Lletraferits and ATyPI.

Quique Ollervides

(CDMX, 1974).

Graphic Designer by the Universidad Intercontinental and certified Type Designer by The Cooper Union. He has focused on branding, illustration and typographic projects, Co-founder and co-directed of Hula+Hula Design studio (1996-2010), and the gallery/store KONG (2006-2009). His work has been published and recognized worldwide. Has taught Typography at UIC and CENTRO, he is currently giving lectures and workshops about loo design and typography.

Mónica Puigferrat Novella

(Ciudad de México, 1966).

Graphic Designer with specialized post graduate studies on design, typography and printing by the Schule für Gestaltung, Basel; and Editorial Design. Founder of the studio Cuevas-Puigferrat Diseño. Former Art Director for Artes de México magazine. Her work has been recognized and awarded with the Premio Quórum on several occasions. She has taught courses for graduate and undergraduate programs in various universities trough out Mexico. Currently, she is Coordinator for the School of Design at the Universidad Anáhuac México, south campus.

Leonardo Vázquez Conde

(Ciudad de México, 1971) .

Editorial Designer, specialized on Typography by the ANRT (Atelier National de Recherche Typographique) Nancy, Francia. Has a Masters degree on Critic Theory by 17 Instituto de estudios críticos, being his interest of research image, aesthetic theory, writing, technology and design. Former Art Director for governmental institutions (Conaculta, CDHCM) and private publishers (Artes de México). Has been teaching on different under-graduate and graduate programs for various Universities. Founder of the studio macizo.com.mx
